Tach shows high

The tach in my 96 lost its accuracy. At idle it shows about 1200rpm
at 65mph approx 2300rpm.
I am planning to replace the cluster to correct it, unless there is something I can do to fix it.
I'd rather fix it if possible to retain the original mileage on the speedo.

have u checked the ground for your gauges.

also if u change cluster, get the same one, and put your old spedo into it.

usally when tach is bad it just doesnt work, if its out means something is wrong.

Is it possible to replace just the tach? I thought that individual gauges are not replaceable.
