Cycle the key on and off 3 times. Leave it in the ON position on the 3rd time.
watch in the upper left hand corner of your dash.
Count the blinks...there are a set of 2.
don't worry about five blinks followed by five blinks.
That is end of cycle.
Then tell us which number it told you.

Those scanners are expensive, I think you can get one with the OBDI software and adapters for domestic vehicles at AutoZone, but it'll cost ya like $400 and they have to special order it. If you're unsure of the code(s), take it to a local shop and have them hook up to it.
Some people swear by the key-on-key-off method. I prefer the scanner, as it gives you a LOT more info than just a code number.
