I dropped by Prentice Cooper about a year ago and they had bulldozed all of the roads. They weren't much to begin with, but were close enough for a 1/2 day trip. I ran into a Jeep buddy today and he said that they have opened some new trails, pretty rough ones. Anybody else been on the new trails?

I was there a couple of weeks ago. We have been going there for 15 years. The "trails" close in the winter and open up in April. There are 3 access roads that go through the WMA even when the "trails" are closed. One of them could be mistaken for a trail, as it provides a few obstacles. The trails at the very end of tower road seem to be on a different open and closed schedule. If you can find them open, it is a rare treat indeed. Those are the best trails the area has to offer. (Level 2 on a 1-5 scale)

There are no new trails. My guess is that you and your friend had a visit when all the trails were closed, and he just went back after they reopened them all. All the trails are much tamer now than a few years back. About 5-7 (?) years ago, they did a lot of grading and gravelling. Some of the toughest ones got completely closed.

If you ever want to go, shoot me a PM and I can show you around up there. Here are some pics from the Tower Road End Trails.

Thanks man, nice Cherokee. Ringgold Chrysler is putting on a Jeep show June 10th and they are doing a trail ride at Prentice Cooper June 11th. I plan on going to the show, and might go on the trail ride.
