Do any of you work for UPS, and can tell me what this means?

MERCHANDISE IS MISSING. UPS WILL NOTIFY THE SENDER WITH ADDITIONAL DETAILS.;MERCHANDISE MISSING, BALANCE IS BEING DELIVERED. UPS WILL NOTIFY THE SENDER WITH DETAILS OF THE DAMAGE.

To me, its saying they are acknowledging that something was missing. That they found the piece, and are delivering it. And will notify me of any damage to the item. Sound about right? They will more then likely contact me on tuesday, but I was just curious in the mean time.

Actually it means the package broke open and part of the contents are missing. The part that isn't missing may be damaged and they will deliver that portion with an explanation.

Thats not right. The package was already delivered. It showed up missing an item. The box itself was not damaged at all. I called UPS and they called and setup an inspection with the individual who recieved the package. After he described the package, the lady told him that she was filing the claim. So this message is after delivery of the package and a inspection with the receiver.

Then you have a 50/50 chance the vendor is shipping a replacement part or UPS found the missing part. Having worked for UPS in the past I would bet on the vendor....but we did sometimes find the missing items. If the package was undamaged then it's perty darn fer sure the vendor is shipping the replacement part. A lot of their messages are ambigous as all heck BTW. When they contact you they'll give you scoop on if they found it or if the vendor shipped a new one. The vendor may say it was accidently left out of the package or he may not.

I'll agree with that. The shipment came from me, and went to someone in CA. So there is no vendor involved here. I am the shipper.

LOL!!!! So did you forget to ship something? If not then the package was damaged in some form or another as a part fell out. It would sound like they did find the part then and it was shipped onto the buyer. But I wouldn't be surprised either if the missing part showed up at your house.

I know of several cases when I worked there that a package burst open and shit went everywhere. Yet when they were done repackaging it you couldn't tell it had ever opened. The one case did end up involving the Feds as the contents were kiddy porn.

It must have bust open and shat a ring gear. I didn't forget to ship it and he is pretty sure he didn't get it. The package wasn't damaged at all as far as I know.

your sure it was in the same box you shipped it in? i had a package damaged and they put it in a new box with a note about what happened and if anything was missing to contact UPS. but they put the damaged box inside a new box.
