Looking at buing a Frontier 4 door (99-04 model). I can't find much info on them, I know the aftermarket isn't huge.

What type of lockers and other drivetrain components are available... more importantly, how strong is stock?

I found that the only serious lifts (over basic 3") are a solid axle swap (expensive), or a real longer arm coilover suspension (http://chaosfab.com/).

Any advice/knowledge out there?

4x4parts.com is THE BEST and damn near ONLY place to get aftermarket stuff for Nissans. Check out thier forums and you'll learn everything you want to know. While there is not a whole lot of lift options due to IFS front end I love my Nissan and will never part with it. BTW- Nissan is not expensive to fix, actually a very basic suspension and steering setup.

Actually that is related to the only thing I don't like, torsion bar suspension. I imagine that just like every full size truck these days, any decent priced lift will result in simply a drop bracked mount for the rear end of the torsion bars. I know toyotas have a much biggere following for the "real" suspension up front as much as anything. But I like the look of the nissans, and I think both are overpriced... but nissan much less than toyota.

Anything over 3" will have torsion bar drop. The best bet is a 3+3 (BL+SL). Just remember; don't buy a Nissan if you want a monster truck. Mine's only 3" suspension lift and 31" BFG but it's great. Very reliable truck. 1992 w/120k and runs like a top.
