I am driving a 98 with 3.5 in R.E. all spring lift. I am going to go with the R.E. hack and tap S.Y.E. It will go on a 242. My question is can I use a front shaft on the rear with this year and setup? Are all front shafts the same? Will it be the right length for my lift or will it need to be lengthend? Any help will be great.

Thanks

The RE H&T uses a flange, unless they changed it.And a stock front drive shaft uses a yoke style attachment. You need to get the proper DS ,RE sells one for about $250 last I checked.

no and no.
auto's and 5spd.
and the u-joint end won't work with a Hack-n-Tap.
sorry i don't have more time to tell ya, i'm at work.

I just did this mod last week on my '98 Cherokee Sport 4.0/AW4/8.25 & 242.
I used the front d.shaft from a '87 cherokee (all spicer shaft) that I
pulled from the local pull-and-save for $15.00.
Installed with the RE hack-n-tap on the 242 and I am running the
RE 3.5 superflex kit.
NO problems. Plenty of room to slip in AND out.
If you send me your email address I can send pics. It looks beautiful.
I also installed 4 degree shims in the rear. The pinion angles are perfect.
Recently wheeled, recentely punished without a complaint.
My rig is a DD and sees 65+ mph to and from the trail running 32" BFG Muds.
No vibes, no binding. Flawless offroad performance.
Driveshaft=$15 + Precision Flange=$78 + Labor to press flange in=$9 + RE hack-n-tap=$88, Total=$190.00 front drive shaft mod.
I even got lucky and got spicer greaseable u-joints w/ the front shaft.

I've got pics, but can't post them here.

I honestly couldn't be happier with the outcome.
