Well....

Yesterday I swung by the Forest Service booth in AF canyon and asked when they would open the gates. They told me that they were open! I went by Freaks place and asked if those two unemployed jeepers wanted to go up Mineral Basin Today. To my utter disbelief, they said Yes!

So....We went.

By the way, That hole Jeremy's in looked like a mud puddle. We almost got up to the second Pittsburg lake trailhead when the trail was snowed in too much to pass with mere lockers and Mt's

I just got back from taking my wife out for her birthday so... I'm still working on the pics and video.

My two pointer fingers are hurting now from typing.

My camera was having issues I was unaware of, thought I took a lot of pics, but only a few turned out..

Oh, and Chris, we thought about you while we played in the snow(Spence even thought about calling you..:D)

But, yes, a very nice time today, weather was great, even tho there was some mud, it was nothing too much.

Clint, that was a DEEP hole! caught me off guard, Cody had just gone through it and it did not look that bad.. we drove around it coming back out..

Looks like fun, soon as my axle is done, we NEED to go up there. Mineral basin is on my list to do this summer.

Go up AF canyon, take the left fork to Tibble Fork res. at the top end of the Res go straight on a dirt road, go to the top(i don't know how many miles) I would guess 3-5 miles.. For Mineral Basin, stay on the main dirt road till you see a sign, going right takes you to Midway, or Deer Creek, go left for Mineral Basin, once you make the left, it's pretty much a no-brainer to reach the Rock Garden(whats left anyway) and the trail to Snowbird.

To Forest lake, once you stop really gaining altitude on the same road as above, You will see a road crossing the stream on your right, once across the stream, the trail makes an abrupt right and UP a dugway.

i have 2 other cherokees going with me i am planning on leaving layton in the am some time if you want we could meet some were and caravan down..... or just meet there at a set time like 10:00 i have never been there and have no idea how long it takes to get there or how long it takes to complete the trail? give me some input

The earlier the better Matt. It will be a bit crowded up there. There are some one vehicle stretches where it would be hard if not impossible to pass. Post up where and when you're meeting.
