I bought a 1994 xj off ebay with blown head gasket.Pulled head and found melted piston from to hot plug. Can i get away with just a single piston and ring replacment? I'm on a very limited budget getting all my repair money from a college beer cans.So far over 400.00 head bolts, welder, gaskets etc.Tks.c.j.o.

It's not the best fix but I've seen it done if the cylinder or head isn't damaged.
Agreed. I did it with a Mazda 1.6 after I burned through the top of the piston. The cause of mine was timing too far advanced.
