odd starting problem

I have an 87 wagoneer with renix 4.0l. When it is cold all is good, but sometimes after it is warmed up, when started it will rev way up (2200 rpm) then die. I'm wondering maybe MAP sensor. Any help?

Why MAP? Why not Temp sensors? Also change the Power latch relay. When that fails the computer can't reset your IAC when you turn the engine off.

temp sensor in head is new. what is the power latch relay, & where is it located? I just swapped in a new engine due to oil pump failure. all senors on block & intake are off new motor, but problem started before engine swap.

the Power latch relay is located beside the fuel pump relay.
