Crawl ratios

Ok, I have 5.13's in the axles and an ax-15 tranny (3.88 I think), currently with a 4 low in the 231 (crawl ratio=80). This seams a little too low for most of the midwest wheeling. I also have a dana 300 which I was thinking about putting behind a box4rocks 231 combo.

Now the question is what would you all do, double up the 231 dana 300 or just go with the dana 300 (maybe with a 4:1)? Yes it would be cool to have the doubler but that is not the question.

I will be using the Dana 300 for sure (front digs).

More info: I am running hp 44 front and 9" rear, with 35's probably going to 37's.

I'm doing the box4rox/300 setup with a 4:1 in the d300..

not for doubleing them, but so I have the option of 1:1, 2.72:1, 4:1. Twin stick, shorter than my 231 now, and no chain.

Granted, its gonna weigh 80 pounds more than my setup now.. I'm not paul sinclair.

That's what I would do.

Those are mid-west gears.

BTW, it's better a post whore than a whore post.

I think I am leaning towards the 4:1 gears for the 300, the biggest problem I have with the 231 4:1 gears is the do not exceed 3k rpm rule for too long.
