i purchased a 89 cherokee aw4 will this tranny work with a 92 H.O.cherokee,i did the swap,and i have know gears,does anyone know if i have to change to the 89 TCU? i'm ready to smash a jeep.TIA.

I think you have to replace the flex plate (flywheel).

the 89 tranny will plug right into the 92 TCU (87-96 are electronically compatible) but the 89 is a 21 spline output and the 92 is a 23 spline, so you'll need the t-case with the tranny.

no, just keep the 92 flexplate. match the flexplate to the ignition system (renix or HO).

thanks for posting,do you mean to change the CPS sensor,i used my 92 sensor,didn;t get the 89 CPS.but the jeep starts up and runs fine.the transfer case was the 231.same as mine but the front case was cracked.so i just used my 92 tranfer case,bolted up just fine.TIA.
