fan on hood vents

ok so i over heated the other day in idle. i am wanting to not have to turn the jeep on and off every time i get out because it super drains the battery(10 second starts) and was wondering which direction to have the fan on the vent. should it pull air in or blow it out?

if it's mounted to the hoodvent, i would want it to pull the hot air out.
