Stiffeners

TNT stiffeners.

When they are being welded do you think that they should be welded ALL THE WAY around the whole stiffiner or do you think that a 6 inch bead on then 6 inches off then 6 inch bead on will be sufficient? A welder that I talked to said this would be sufficient but I wanted to make sure.

I'd do more like 2" on, 2" off stitch weld technique.

6" would be too long for heat to build up.

i did 1.5-2" on 3" gap....seems to work just fine. You want to leave some unwelded material as a "crack stopper" should one of the welds crack. the smaller the length of the weld, the smaller the crack...but then you have to consider strength too.
