I'm under the impression that the first G.C. (WJ maybe, not sure) have a D30 up front, but that they use cv joints instead of u-joints. First is this true, second is it possible to use the shafts from a G.C. in an XJ D30?

Grands have the low pinion front d30.

why goto cv joints from u-joints? it's sorta like working backwards.

this is coming from a guy who owned a 94 ZJ btw :)

They're smoother, but a bit weaker.

Search on my name and CV, and you'll get hits. We had a fairly long discussion on this a year or so back.

I run the smaller cv's up front. The cv's from the grands are a bigger style. I plan on going with these next. If you are running a cherokee with the 4.0 and wheel hard I would stay away from cv's. But if you wheel light you should be just fine. My 2.5 hasen't broken one yet and I wheel pretty hard.

Kim.
