Anyone been researching these. Looks like it they have a cab and chassis 3500.
Says bigger diesel and 6 speed auto. Anyone know if that will be the same for the 2500 models?

Engine and trans combos should be the same between the 2500 and 3500. Supposed to be a 6.7l engine, and a 90% reduction in particulate emissions. Rumors claim that there's a lot of room to bomb the new engines. Same block, just bored out.
I'd be mildly surprised if a 2500 cab&chassis is offered.

I could not find any info on the 2500 for the 07 model on the dodge website. Their site sucks a fat one! I thougth that maybe the 5.9L and 4 speed would still be standard issue in the 2500 and 3500 models and just the cab and chassis would get the new engine and tranny.
My dad just bought a 06 2500 cummins 4x4 blah blah blah. I was really thinking about it, but I have been holding out because of the four speed auto. I knew they would have to get with the program and get a better tranny or atleast more gears.

I'm pretty sure that the 5.9l ISB is going to be dead after 2006. Check the Cummins website for 2007 specs on the ISB.
No debate that Dodge really does need to get a better automatic transmissions. Personally, I prefer sticks, and I do wish I had a 6spd instead of the 5spd.

I have had manuals since high school and I'm ready for a auto. Four or five years ago I'd have gotten a manual, but now I'm tired of shifting!
Dodge states AISIN is the tranny manufacture, I'd say (hope, guess) that it should/will be a good one. Might have some first year bugs to work out. Damn might need to wait until 2008!

I've only owned 1 vehicle with a slushbox, and that's for sale (bought as a project vehicle, don't ask.) And I've been commuting in Chicago suburban traffic with a stick shift for better than 10 years. You can have my stick shift when you pry it from my cold dead fingers.
I wouldn't worry about the engine. Transmission is another story.

Read this,

I have an 05 CTD and use this forum a lot,

It's my understanding this engine is for the commercial chassis cab 3500, not the regular 3500. The 3500 and 2500 are expected to continue with the 5.9, with changes to meet the new 2007 emissions for diesels.
There is a wealth of info if you can take some time to search through the posts.
