D44 swap into a 96

Ok, here's the stats: 96, 4.0L, 231, Corp 8.25. NO SYE, 3" lift.

Here's the plan. Swap in a D44 in place of the Corparate 8.25.

What I would like to know is whether or not the 1" difference of over all length between the 8.25 and D44 is enough to cause catastorphic failure of the transfer case by bottoming out and driving the drive line and slip yoke into the transfer case. . . .

I've searched. I want more. And I do not have access to a D44 driveline.

I believe the D44 and Chrysler 8.25 share a similar axle tube centerline to pinion yoke measurement, which means the driveline should be just fine. AFAIK, the D35 is the shorter of the three as far as that goes (which means it would have a longer driveshaft stock).

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't actually measured, I'm going off of what I've heard on this and other sites regarding swapping a D44 in place of either a D35 or 8.25.
