View Full Version : Differences in the AW-4 trans?

Can anyone help me out?
I need to know how much difference there is between an AW-4 from a 1987 and one from a 1991?
And can all of the sensors, vacume switches and NSS be interchanged?
What I want to do is have the trans from the 87 rebulit and then swap it into the 91.

The trans and all of the sensors will change over....but your T-case will not. 87-90 have the 21 spline and the 91+ have the 23 spline.

From some of the posts around here, I get the impression that the AW4 doesn't like being rebuilt. I've seen a number of posts of people complaining that the rebuild only lasted a year or so. Not sure why.
