 I'm quite mad at my xj right now and very confused. I have this mysterious problem, it has an electrical problem that i can't diagonose. It won't fire now, but it will try and turn over. I thought that it needed a new computer but I bought a new one but that didn't fix the problem. I got new spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, pick-up coil for the distributor, and ignition coil. All sensors are plugged in and fuses relays have checked good. I was driving it one day then a few hours later i went to start it and all it will do is try and turn over it was very low on gas but i put more in it. If you know of anything else that i should check or replace please respond or email me. Thanks alot!!

Sounds like it needs a CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor). However, before tossing any more dollars in the money pit, try reading the error codes off the computer. On a '94 there's a way to do it by turning the key off and on several times and counting flashes on the check engine light.

I don't have an XJ this will work on so I don't know the procedure. Try doing a search, and if that doesn't work maybe some kind soul who knows how will post instructions.

Thanx, i did a system check and it came up with a lot of other sensors that i know aren't faulty (i think it is because i was plgging and unpluging them all in) which lead me to get another computer. The CPS is my last resort that i know of. I tested it today and found it was shorted. Is it suppossed to be open? if so i think i found my problem and i will make one last trip to autozone.

Yep, it was the cps sensor. My jeep runs like a champ now.
