I was going to put and adjustable trackbar on the jeep today to cure any problems i might have with steering after lifting it ( 90 cherokee 4.0 auto. 3 inch rough country lift), well i removed the original track bar with jeep on the ground and moved the steering wheel around to get the axle centered where it should be , after getting it about right by eye i went to istall the adjustable. to my surprise its about a quarter to half inch too long with it adjusted as far down as i could get it !!.
i cant figure out why , i ran the part # and its the right one , RC adjustable trackbar for xj. any one have an idea on what gives??? I had to put the original one back on because i use the jeep as my DD but id like to figure it out .
Thanks.

i put the same lift on the wifes xj, its a 87, and she is still running the stock trac bar, as far as i know, you dont need to change it unless you 4" or more....im no expert, but that is what i was told by quite a few people...
the adjustable is probably for more lift than what you have right now.....
just my 2 cents.....

Thats what i was thinking too ,maybe ill just keep it in the hatch untill i get the itch for more lift . the steering is sloppy though and everything in the front end is up too par so far . maybe ill look at the steering box itself ? does anyone know if they have an adjustment ( worm screw ) like the old dodge steering boxes did too take some slop out ?
Thanks

Yes there is, just unplug and unbolt your auxiliary electric cooling fan to access the adjustment screw.

bgwyllys61.. Is right, you really dont need one until you go over 4 inches...
Dont go adjusting your box though, that screw is not an adjustment screw... Well, it is, but not for you.... It is designed for adjustmet at the factory. It has a crush washer under it, so tightening the screw will not help you, and if you tighten it, you cant go back... If the box is screwed, just go to the parts store and get yourself a rebuilt one... It will be less stress in the long run..
