AW4 Replacing Solenoids

As I pulled the wire off the front solenoid the plastic outside of the connector crumbled. The metal female connector is fine but is the plastic essential to the connection? Does it keep the oil off the connection or anything like that? Do I need to replace the solenoid wire harness?

The only thing the plastic looks like it does is lockes the connection. I broke the plastic on mine the other day also. All i did was squeezed the metal connector a little tighter so it wouldnt come loose.
