I am planning out a 2" lift for my XJ and think I have figured out which front coils I am going to go with. I was toying with the idea of going with the OME 2" lift but I can't justify the costs right now.

What I need is recomendations on which AALs to get to lift the rear up 2" over stock. I have 53,000 miles on my rear leafs and would like to get a good quality full length add-a-leaf. Any feed back you guys have I would really appreciate. I should also mention that I want to go with new add-a-leaves in the rear and not mix and match with the Dakota springs.

Thanks!

Jamie

Rancho. You can find the part number on their web site. Somehow the number 6130 sticks in my little pea-sized brain, but don't quote me on that. It's easy to find -- it's the only one they offer for the XJ.

I've run a Skyjacker full-length add-a-leaf for 3 years now (about 33K miles). I like it and I haven't noticed any sag. The springs currently have 100K miles on them now.

Make sure to get full length... I had shorties which caused a premature failure of the pack :(

I am using Rubicon Express 2.5" full AAL's. Nice ride with a little extra height in the back. Four years now and no sag. They cost around $65 for a set.

Remember that you are fighting a ton of axlwwrap with the use of Nitrous. Ive used full packs, AAL, and Dakotas and by far the best solution was the Dakotas (admittedly the Rancho packs were crap to begin with). Dakotas may seem like a cheapo way to get the job done because they come from a junkyard, but they actually work a whole lot better than a single AAL figting all the force of your stock pack. Also, the overload leaf will fight N2O induced axlewrap to an extent.

Also, my AAL kinked the main eye to my stock pack pretty bad. I guess it all depends how much you flex it up.

Hmmm, you bring up a very good point there. I only want to lift about 2" and I thought that the dakota option raises it up more like 3.5" is this the case? If I could come up with a strong combination that would allow me to use the Dakota springs and get around 2" I would definitely consider this as an option. Is this possible? If so which combination of springs would I have to use from the XJ and Dakota?

Dakota springs? What year? Same as mine? I have some sag and I'm looking to change them with either new full AAL's or another source of spings. (donor springs)

Dakota springs from a 96 or below will work. As for trying to get only 2 inches or so of lift, I would use the stock main leaf of the XJ pack, longest (not main) leaf of the dakotas, and the shortest and second shortest leaves of the stock pack, then the OL leaf of the dakota (which gives 1/2 inch in itself, its THICK). THis way you wouldnt have a single leaf pushing up a bunch of sagged leaves, its still supported on the underside, and you have a big ol OL leaf giving lift and battling axle wrap. Plus I bet the ride would be cush.
