Im Ken, live in North Conway, New Hampshire. Bought a 90' black stock 4door Cherokee Laredo a little while back. If I ever get it on the road and get it home I'll take pics so you can see all the radical mods it has like the 2" dropped rear (saging leafs), the new awesome rocker panels (galvanized sheelt metal pop riveted on and spray can undercoat paint job) The really cool new used no name 29" A/T's, new front brake pads, new stock shocks, new steering stabalizer, new outer u-joints, new fuel pump, etc.... lol

But hey I got it for $300.00!

At least I'll be able to drive it down my gravel driveway. :repair:

Hello everyone. I'm AJ, I'm 32 and live on the Cape. I'm an electrician by day and I teach electrical apprentices at night. I have an 87 XJ I purchased about 12 years, two engines, three transmissions and four alternators ago. It's been from Northern Cal where I grew up, to Canada, to here, to Texas, back to Cal, then back to here. Hmmm... I think I'm at around 245,000 miles. It runs like a top, but has the ugliest damn color anyone can imagine,
-MID 80s BEIGE! :puke:
So, my goal is a coat of flat textured brown. It is undergoing some more upgrades to help make this happen- should be at 5/4.5 inches when finished, with a 44, 4.56s and a rear locker when I'm done, and I'm going to try some 34in Special Service TSLs... maybe by summer's end.

I'm Rob too (no relation to the guy who started this thread).

The mirror poking into the picture of Ben's old rig belongs to my '92 Laredo.

It was stock then, but now has the 2" OME kit and has been rolling on 30s for about 6 months.

Like the rest of you, I'm counting the days (and projects) till NACFest.

finally paid for my NAXJA membership last night... :)

got my 2001 Solar Yellow XJ Sport in May 2005, and it's still stock. Well, I added Rustys tow hooks and a Class III hitch+reciver hook and strap and a CB, but... :) The XJ is a Sport, but it's got yellow/black leather seats and some other options that must have been custom ordered by the first owner. 4.0, Auto, D30/D35, no ABS.

I've wheeled it a bit for being stock, and after replacing the only real trail damage last night (crossmember customization at Rausch Creek), it's back to running smooth and quiet. I replaced the factory tires with 225/75/15 Dueler Revos and love them. Taken it on blue trails (and one low black) and haven't gotten stuck yet. I get stuck mudding, but that's because I drop the diffs or the whole frame on the ruts.

A Rubicon Express 3.5" lift is in the future, but probably not until 2007 unless I get a significant income boost to pay for the lift, SYE, and new tires. Figure it's best to enjoy it stock until I can put on a good sized lift instead of throwing money at budget lifts.

Hello everyone! My name is Tim and I am located in Richmond, VA. I have been interested in Jeeps (primarily XJs) for years, but I continued in the "car scene" until several of my co-workers took me wheeling about a year ago. That is officially when I knew I had to bite the bullit, sell my cars, and buy an XJ. After searching for a year, and almost settling on some clunkers, I finally found the rig I own today (purchased about three months ago). It is a '00 XJ with 52,000 miles on it. Although I didn't build this rig to its current standpoint, I am very proud of it. Here is a list of goodies:

*6.5" Rock Krawler long arm (this is the rig RK used to develope this lift...it's the gray '00 on their website under the 6.5" longarm lift)
*Antirock swaybar system
*Bilstein 5150 shocks
*4:10 gears
*lockrite lockers front and rear
*33X12.50 MTR
*Custom prototype RK front and rear bumpers
*7000 lbs Champion (Sam's club special) winch
*SYE
*Ron Woods driveshaft
*8 1/4 rear axle
*Dana 30 front axle
*Cut fenders with Bushwacker flares
*Rock Rails
*Revolver shackles

As noted above, this rig is the rig RK used to develope their 6.5" longarm system. I've only wheeled it three times, but I love this thing. I've never had a more enjoyable time in any vehicle I've owned.

I will be taking this rig to BigDogs at the end of this month to REALLY put it through it's paces with me. I crushed a factory front lower control arm bracket the weekend before last, so I'm just waiting for my Rusty's upgrades to come in. I also have RK lower control arm reinforcement/skids that I am going to try and use with the Rusty's units. I won't be crushing that again!

Will also be at Big Dogs Ice Breaker. Should see ya there.

My Rig:

---1989 Jeep XJ Cherokee Pioneer---
Rubicon Express 6025 3.5" Super Ride
Adjustable Track Bar
31x10.5 Procomp MudTerrains on Black Steel Rims
C4x4 Tow Hooks
Class III Hidden Hitch w/ Warn Reciever Shackle
JKS Quick Disconnects
Front Doorless Mod

Stuff to come:
Safari Rack
Gun Rack
Skids and Armor

When I moved back home from pittsburgh I was given this car as a graduation present...and I quickly started dumping money into it. I've only had the jeep for a few months now, got it back at the end of January. I didn't have a car in pittsburgh, so it was a well deserved present.

Not much really to say. I figured I spent enough money on my firearms, now I have to put some into my Jeep.

Hey all, I'm Jeremy and new to Jeeps and wheelin'. I used to sell VW's and took an XJ in on trade so I snatched it up. Here are a couple pics of it last July 4th, my first day wheelin it is bone stock aside from the Thule rack.

Since then I put a Rusty's 3" AAL and 30" A/T's on it. Nothing too crazy as my budget is meager and it is now my DD since I am selling my GTI. I also got a hook up from a good friend on an ARB front bull bar and a set of Olympic rock rails. Alos got a custom cargo box / sub box for the rear cargo area, and have some IPF replacement head lights and Hella 500's on the way.

I don't know a whole lot about it other than it is a 2001 5spd sport. I beleive it has the Chrysler 8.25 rear diff, power windows and factory fogs. And just found out my throwout bearing is bad, so time for a clutch replacement in the very near future i guess.

I'm itchin to do some more wheelin when ever I can, and hopefully will make some meet & greets / trail rides.

Here's a pic of my GTI for the hell of it

Hi - I be mothy

I have owned a TJ (95), two libertys(00,03), a GC (05) - all stock. Wife claims the last three are hers - but I paid for them, so I they are mine.

I recently sold my 03 Golf and bought a 92 XJ.

I moved from the midwest 18 months ago for a job in Boston - wife came too. Damn - Boston is expensive!
The cost of living difference is one reason for the sale of the Golf.

My XJ is a daily driver so it will get TLC initially and will get abused later. LONG list of wants/needs - always looking for a bargain.

I frequent here and JU .

Hi All. I'm from Albany, NY. I'm a tech at a local C/J dealer:repair: . It's a '98, 4.0L, 5-speed. Not much into off-roading for financial reasons, but I like to keep it looking good and performing well. Not many mods, just a Hesco TB spacer and K&N filter. Now I'm looking into just 1"-1.5" lift shackles to adjust for the leaf sag. It's my DD so I'm looking for street and highway performance. Got a great sound system:woohoo: !

I'm Dave from Canton, CT. I have a 99 XJ Sport with 4.0L, AW4, NP231, D30/8.25, K&N FIPK, 62mm TB and a Dynomax cat-back. I write Computer Aided Design software and am a volunteer firefighter. I bought my XJ mainly for responding to fire calls as it has plenty of room for all my gear and gets me through our New England snows. The only real off-roading I do is for fishing and camping with my 2 sons and the occasional brush fire.

I don't even have an XJ yet but as soon as I sell one of Grand Wagoneers I'm getting one.
Otherwise I have an 88 Grand Wagoneer totally stock and very nice that I'm selling to fund the XJ.
An 87 Grand Wagoneer with 4" lift, 33's, TFI, MSD, and a slew of Eldebrock stuff
A 78 CJ-7 that started as a bare frame that's about 75% done also with 4" of lift and 33's as well as a 4.0 headed 4.2 with a Clifford cam & Intake and a 390 Holley.
Aside from 4X4's Im also into old MOPAR muscle and hope to one day complete my 79 Li'l Red Express.

Hi, Dennis here and just paid my membership. I have a stock '98 XJ that I can't do "too much" with since it's still financed. But I have started with BFG All Terrain T/A's, front hooks from Rusty's and such so it's started. :D Anyway, hi from Erie, PA. Pic's to arrive shortly .....

Nice piece, looks like you have a great base for building a serious trail beast. I have to ask though, what is that radiator hose-looking thing hanging underneath the front, laying on the steering....please tell me its not actually the radiator hose....I know how a work in progress is, but I had to ask...

Looks like your ready for long arms, those control arm angles are seriously bad. Also, score yourself at least an XJ D44 rear..., that D35 is very definitely your weakest link right now.

Looking good!!

I have gotten sucked into the XJ. The first week I bought it I'd already ordered parts from summit for it :) Always loved the jeep's, My freind recieved a 93ZJ from his dad with like 225,000 Miles on it, It then failed the CA smog test so they canned it and my freind bought his own 01WJ Quadratrac V-8, The second day he had it we got to drive to his Grandparents house just east of Yuma Arizona and test that limited slip in the sand..worked very well even on street tires. Anyway's I've done some light treading here, My grandfather own's a little quarry that's no longer in action so I did some 4x4 testing, It's a beast :) I did manage to get the XJ stuck...I was trying to drive up hill in one of his feilds a day after it rained..The front end managed to just sink right on in, then down to the axles hahah goodthing for 4x4 Difflocking Ford Tractors :) I'll post up a picture of thy rig..

I have a small 4x4 shop in Southern NJ, where I do Custom Fabrication and repairs. I hope to see all of you on the trails as soon as I finish the XJ build.

Well I just ordered a JD4 hydraulic bender for my shop and I'm going to put a tube frame under the XJ, then I've got a 5.7L Hemi with the 5speed auto and an atlas t/c to put in it along with a pair of Dana 60's with detroit's and 5.13's. It will be for rocks mostly, along with fabricating a full frame, I'm going to fab up an 8" long arm 4 link suspension to run 36" or 37" tires. I've got some ideas for a full cage with integrated tube steel flares and some body armor. My goal is to have it ready for next spring. I'll post some links to pics as I build it.

Very new to this site. I looked up as much as I could on the net ref the 60th anniv Cherokee. I am picking one up next week, great condition. Black with about 80K miles. Is this as "rare" as it seems? and Is there any particulars about the 2001's that I need to checkout?

60th edition XJs are fairly rare, were only 2,379 black anniversary models made. there's nothing special mechanically about them, aside from the 16" wheels, so you don't need to hunt for anything. the only things you'll have different from a regular XJ is the 60th stickers and floormats. the other options were all stuff you could get with a regular XJ. http://www.getahelmet.com/60th/info/60thback.jpg

Hi all! I'm Julie from Albany, NY area. I have a 98 XJ which has recently come off of daily driver status that I will be building this summer for wheelin' cuz I finally bought a new daily driver (WJ). Some might know my boyfriend Scott, the new Pres of Adirondack Jeeps. Actually, we were at Paragon with Steph not too long ago (I was back at the hotel sleeping that saturday as I was feeling sick, but we were both out Sunday with some other folks from CTJeep).

Hey,

I'm Matt from Lakes Region of NH. Have had our 96 XJ since 2000. I love it and it has saved my life and my little boy's life on three occassions. It's mostly stock (except for AirRaid intake, throttle body spacer, and performance plugs/wires). The last time we had an accident was in December...

Woman in a Lberty blows a red light and slices the bumper off and crunches my whole frontend. Everyone was ok, but I got to drive the XJ home with the bumper in th back... even the lights still worked!

Anyway, now we need to fix it. This time, we're going to upgrade. But I have never done anything except change the plugs, wires, and air box out. Never done any body work. Not sure about how to remove panels, best place to get used parts (Junkyards in NH?), etc.

So, glad to be here! Any help is appreciated!

Matt

The name's Brian and I live by Springfield and go to school in worcester at WPI for aerospace engineering. I've done a couple DIY mods but can never get anywhere serious because of being a full time student a.k.a broke all the time. Looking forward to meeting some of you guys in the future, prolly not going to make NACFEST but I'd deff be up for something more local as long as it's legal.

Got a 1992 Sport a few weeks ago, it's got a 4.5" RC lift on it right now, but I'm going to be replacing that with an RE 5.5" LA Kit in a week or so, to run my 33" Mickey's :D

So far I ordered the RE 5.5"~7.5" Shocks, and some JKS Bar-pin eliminators. Next week I will be ordering my lift, and like 2 weeks after that, I will order my SYE/CV:roflmao:

Rusty's airtube with 9" K&N, flowmaster 40 series 2.5" outlet, Bilstein HD shocks, Rusty's TB spacer, a bunch of lights on the front, yadda yadda yadda.

It's been flopped on it's before, but that was back when it was lifted and whatnot, and not racing. So far in rallycross I've only had one near rollover, and that was either because of a broken rear shock, or the landing impact broke it.

As for having trouble with the Subarus, no, not really. In the last two races I've come in 5th in class out of 20 and 6th in class out of 13. Two cars with multiple drivers always ahead of me are an Audi A4 and an older Mitsubishi Galant VR4.

I'm getting faster and starting to catch up...the Jeep takes a little finese sometimes to get right.

I also converted the closed cooling system to a open cooling system.

They were fine.

A rallycross like what I race in, entry fees are usually $50-60 for non-SCCA members.

As for what I've put into my Jeep, not much.

Rusty's Airtube with 9" K&N
Rusty's 2.5" catback with Flowamaster 40
Rusty's TB spacer
Bilstein Shocks

Depending on the terrain, I run either Toyo ATs or BFG ATs. Thats about it for upgrades. Goes pretty good.

Hello, Bob and Bobby (6 year old son) here from Ocean Co., NJ.
We have a LOW budget, 1989 XJ with Bronco coils and some S-10 springs in the back, riding on 31s. Other than that she is stock. Its a Father/Son project to get my son involved with Jeeps and to get him in the woods.

Plans are to trim the fenders and save up for 4.5 RE lift to get alittle more tire under her.

Hey All
My name is Dave and I'm from Staten Island NY I just signed up to the site and got my year membership. I recently purchased a 1995 XJ 4dr with a 4.0L and Dana 30 (front) and Dana 35 (rear) axles with a trac-loc. I just finished up some floor pan rust repair and replaced the factory carpeting with a gray rubber floor covering ( what a pain in the A$$ ) asside from that its stock, hopefully not for long though. Well glad to be here this is a great site. Hope to meet some of you at the upcomming event.

Hi
Picking up a 87 Cherokee for now as a grocery getter. My son in law has a 89 YJ. I live in North Reading Ma and spend a lot of time up in Maine. I do plan to replace the springs and not sure whether to keep it stock or lift it slightly.

Hello all! :wave1: :new: I'm new to this site. :NAXJA: I'm usually on Pirate.:piratefla
My name is Steve and live near Baltimore, Maryland.
I have a 92' XJ 5.5" RE lift on 33's for now, and a almost stock 66' Ford Bronco. The Cherokee is my daily driver and wheeling rig. Unless gas prices keep going up.... we will all be back on horses!
