so i'm a pansy who wants to keep his a/c, and i want a big crappin compressor that'll fit under the rear seat. has anybody done this? does it over heat? what's the biggest that'll fit? what kinda stuff can i run with it? does somebody make a die grinder that's small enough to run with those things? thanks guys.

i saw that. but at over 6", it won't fit under the seat. let me rephrase. what cfm or number comp. size min. do i have to run to run a small die grinder? is this (below) big enough flow wise? i really do not know what i'm talking about with this stuff. what kind of switches/valves/etc. are needed for a tank?

there's not any real info about that pump in that auction. You need to know CFM.
Check out this link.

It will tell you what you need to look for in reagrd to running air tools. The most important part is what CFM @ what PSI you need for your tool.
mini die grinder is 4-6 CFM@90PSI. SO you need a compressor that can keep up with that, preferable something that can do more, so you're not running it at 100% duty cycle.

No decent sized compressor will fit under your back seat. Especially not a "big crappin one".

No kidding; heck, a bottle jack barely fits under there.

It won't fit under the seat but, the 12V compressor sold on this tool site: http://buzzardgulch.com/BuzzardGulch/CatalogV2.htm really kicks ass (the one pictured on the home page is different in appearance to the actual compressor sold on page 84 of their online catalog) I believe it to be the same compressor that Extreme Air http://www.extremeoutback.com/index.cgi?cart_id=6009521.4076&pid=30 sells for around $400 (compressor only!) that puts out 4 CFM (at zero head pressure). I bought mine for $169 a couple of years ago and have been very pleased with it. You could seperate the tank and compressor if you plan on hard mounting it, though. It puts out 3.4 CFM @ 40 PSI and 3 CFM @ 90 PSI and fills my 35s (and eveybody elses) really fast........Hans

Went to that link.
It took me to their home page, clicked on "air compressors" and only pulled up large 110/220V ones.
Where is the one you're talking about?

that "puma" doesn't look half bad. can it be mounted on it's side? that is a complete system from the looks of it, it says it has a press switch, if it can be taken apart and the components mounted in different places that would be great.

also don't forget to put that rollcage you know you want to use and have it double as an airtank... don't roll it though... kaboom... No, I have seriously heard of people doing this, using hollow roll cages as airtanks. Don't know if I would trust it, but you might

i may be way off in left field, but 130 psi (that's given your compressor will pump that much) escaping rapidly from a rollcage-based air tank is really not enough pressure to cause any sort of "kaboom" explosion like i believe you are suspecting. chances are, a weld might fail post-roll and allow a leak, but the chances of a violent explosion in my humble estimation are slim to none.

Should be able to, it's oil less. It's actually very well made and a steal for the price.....works really well!.........Hans
