Some years back now, I don't remember how many I purchased a cupholder online. This is the one that sits on the console on top of the e-brake. Well it's in its 4th XJ now and still works like the day I bought it :) . Now that's getting a bang for your buck!

Is that the one that 4wd.com has? Thats the one I have and it is durable, the only complaint I have is that it has too small of recessed holes in it for beverages. 12 oz cans fit 20 oz bottles don't. Other than that great idea.

To fit a 20 ounce bottle, get yourself one of those cheap foam can coolers. Cut the bottom out of the cooler. Slide the cooler onto the bottle (they fit really tight at first, but after you break them in they work easier) and then it will fit nice and snug in the larger upper part of the holder:D

www.quadratec.com has them as well.

Better than the prevous owner my XJ did, he glued some very very shallow cup holder on the center console, pinned under the brezel for the shifter boot. It hung over on the passenger side of the center console. The slightest motion and the drink would tip out of the shallow cup holder.

Funny, the biggest rust hole I have in the floor of the vehicle is right below where he installed that cup holder, this thing is at least 6 times the size of the other rust holes. Hmmm, spilled soda ate thru the paint and caused that huge rust hole?

I was thinking it was the worst design and least durable one. But '86-96 XJ's kinda got the shaft in the cup holder department! Had the XJ towed and the driver yanked my e-brake so that the cup holder tilted and cracked. Design flaw and user over exerting himself.

And it doesn't fit any decent size travel mugs. They friction fit in, but fall over w/o warning. That said, it's still better than the stcok one that mounted in ther passenger side "knee area". That didn't last long before it cracked to pieces.

I cut mine out on the drivers side one to fit 20 oz bottles, just used a keyhole saw :). Works just fine, and 12 oz cans still sit in there without tipping over.

I just cut the entire round section out of the one on the passenger side and can fit almost any of the large or biggy size containers. The only problem now on that side a 12oz. can slips down aways.

Here's a cool adjustablle one that mounts directly to the console with a screw & some velcro tape:

maybe i could mount a set of those in-dash cupholders where the Main vent in the dash is.... the air will just go to the other vents anyhow.... or maybe i could Air Condition my soda :)

I have the aftermarket cupholder that sits over the e-brake in addition to the factory one that clips to the side of the console.

The one that goes over the e-brake sucks at holding most cups, but it holds change and other small things pretty well.
(cans supposedly fit fine... but I don't drink things that come in cans!)
