Ok,. so i had a post sayin that the idle on my 87 comanche with a the 4.0 was crazy. Rpms up down up down up down. It backfires, and runs rich, very very very poor gas milage. Last night, it lost a lot of power during accel and then backfired. When it backfired, it sounded like a vacuum leak. I popped the hood and it blew out the hose running from the throttle body to the MAP sensor....Any idea what my problem may be? o2 sensor or tps?

In general Idle issues can be caused by :
1. TPS
2. Vac Leaks and MAP sensor
3. IAC (idle motor)
4. CTS (coolant sensor saying your in loop mode)
5. o2 (stuck reporting rich or lean
6. Plugs gapped improperly
7. Bad cap or rotor
8. Spark Pluf Wire-set
9. bad grounds or gunky connectors.

Its funny i am still chasing a idle issue, so it can be hard to find.

I would start by replaceing the tps and o2 sensor and also take the throttle body off and clean it well.
