my little brother just bought a '90 pontiac firebird and pointed out to me that a lot of those guys like to make their fuel pressure regulators adjustable to bump up the pressure and increase power. i guess that by adding more fuel, the computer compensates and squeezes out a bit more ponies. my question: could or should this be done on an xj ('89 4.0). if it is a good idea, how whoud i go about doing it? could the stock injectors handle such a thing? thanks for the help, just thought i'd ask.

basically you are making the motor run rich, thats what a jet chip does, thats what a $.02 resistor does. all make your engine run rich think your motor runs at about 185HP, most youll get with increased PSI is about 2 maybe 3 HP (and thats pushing it). engines are not recommended to run really rich. 2 hp is not worth messing over your motor.

Fuel Pressure Regulators are for Majore Mods, Not "Cold Air" And Borla.
Head Work, Cam, Nitrous, Superchargers, Larger Cranks etc.
put one on a factory motor and you wasted your money.
you will have to dial in your FPR to factory specs
