yesterday my check engine light came on for the second time, the first was a couple of months ago, the first time it did, i disconected the battery for about 10 mins. reconected battery, light went off. i am gonna try that again. both times the light has come on is when i go to stop and park it. i don't have access to a code reader.
any ideas what could be the problem?
i have a 1999 cherokee sport, auto tranny, 4x4.
milage about 110,000. no abuse at all

ps. i am new to this forum, this is my first post.

thanks

Well there are literally a zillion reasons why your check engine light can come on. Some of the easiest reasons being a loose gas cap or disconnected sensor. But to be honest for u to really get any help and be able to diagnose and hopefully repair the issue you are gonna need a code reader. Go to a nearby autozone and rent it and get the codes.

depending on what area you are in most parts stores have a obdII scaner. They generaly will scan for free because they want you to buy the parts there.

Hey drobe5150, welcome to NAXJA! Check out this link to Gojeep, it shows how to pull your own codes without a scanner. Post whatever you find out the problem is so others can benefit too.
