Yeah the External roof cage does look like a good idea, kind of a mix between the Exo Internal debate. $700 is definatly a little steep for it though. I am not sure about the little turnouts at the rear. a full hoop would be better but we do want to be able to open the hatch.
The treatment around the dash is interesting, its probably okay but it is very untraditional looking.
How hard is it to pull the dash cover off? the slick way would be to run the tube through the dash but I don't know if that is possible.

I saw his Junk in Moab and I must say it gets it.
I don't like the dash on that thing either. After going through it in my head it offers no support & would bend easily from a side hit on the cage. All you have are those 2 pieces of flat that extend up the sides of the dash which would bend easily no matter how thick they made the material. The gusset they add is on the right track to add rigidity, but doesn't go nearly far enough up to do any good. My second concern would be where the floor tube attaches to the dash bracket. It's hard to see, but it doesn't look like it has near enough structure there either. It probably would do fine for a vehicle that is already designed to survive a roll over, but I wouldn't spend that kind of dough for that design.
Hey guys, this guy had originally emailed me and asked me to post the link to see what everybody thought. The only thing I asked him, was if it was directly tied into the unibody, cuz it's hard to tell in the pictures. That basically tells me that it has the main foot plate that the legs are welded to & a backup plate that bolts to it under the body. For a basic bolt in cage it really is faily complete, but I still don't like the dash deal. If he could figure out a way to bolt those brakets in on the back side into the door hinge area I may reconsider my opinion. IMO that would make it much stronger than it is currantly.

I like how Beezil did his front hoop, so when I get around to mine, I'll probably do it somewhat like that.
This guy had his cages displayed at High Desert Roundup last year and I got a good look at them and talked to him for awhile. I have some questions also about the bottom of the front hoop in his XJ cage, but I can say that his other stuff is well designed and looks stout. As far as rollover strength, it looks good to me especially considering that there is already a hartop, but I wonder about how much rigidity it adds to the A pillars, which would be the main reason I would ever put in a cage.
