i tore the steering up pretty bad in my new jeep yesterday.
instead of spending the 200 bucks or so on parts for replacement stock crap at autozone, im going to do a crossover.
problem is i dont have a measurement for the tie rod and drag link i need to fab because the steering is torn up ad the wheels are pointing opposite directions :)
so can someone tell me what your measurement is for the tie rod and drag link? it would be greatly appreciated. the axle is a stock d30 on a 91XJ.
thanks!

it would help if you told us what kind of crossover setup you're going to use? the draglink could be various lengths depending on where the axle end attaches.
Also you'd be better off getting center to center length of the knuckle mount for the tie rod and calculate you're own length of the bar based on the TRE length.

ill be using SREs, threaded tube inserts, and the drag link will go all the way to the PS knuckle. drag link on top, tie rod on bottom.
center to center knuckle measurements would work fine for the tie rod, but i still need a drag link length (pitman to ps knuckle)
thanks

52" Tie rod center to center
36.5" drag link.
These are center to center measurments, with a tape measure (by no means perfect, but a decent start0.
Mine is a stock D30 also with drag link on top and tie rod on bottom. I used weld in bungs and heims.

good deal. measured from center of bolt hole to center of bolt hole correct?
i appreciate it tremendously.

I may be wrong, but isn't lift height, as well as TB location a factor here? I guess those measurements are a starting point, but dont weld anything until you fit it to YOUR rig.

measure.....measure......measure.
What someone else did may have nothing to do with what you're doing. Are you willing to make a cut on a relatively expensive piece of tubing on somene else's length.......without measuring at least twice on your rig to be sure it's right?

The measurements that I proved are for reference only (I thought that was pretty clear, but just in case it was not). They are from center of the bolt to center of the bolt on each point and they are reasonably close (+/- 1/2).
I do have a standard HP D30 and all my steering arms and pitman arm are stock, my axle is centered and my arms are draglink to top of pass side arm, and tie rod from bottom to bottom of each arm. I am at 4.5" of lift.
Obviously when you are creating the steering set up you will fabricate all your parts and measure everything on the rig several times until you are possitive that you have the perfect length.
Again, my number are for reference and prelininary info only.

the main measurement i needed was center to center on an aligned jeep.
my Xj is sitting in my garage with no steering and nowhere near aligned properly. i needed a starting point.
thanks

Have you tried this:

Good starting point for a at home alignment. I've seen a couple others out there to. The only part you need to get right is the toe anyway.

All you need is a tape measure to align it damn near close. You just measure from the same point on each tire in front of the axle and then the same point in back of the axle. That's the toe.
