I was in stop and go traffic so i had it set in first gear . After the traffic i go to stick her back into D but she keeps acting like she is in first still. Does this in 4 high as well, not in 4 low. To drive all i can do is use the "1*2" and "3" and i gota say.. its kinda freaky downshifting like that.

XJs were made for wheelin' not deep-sea diving. :rtm:
You may have thrashed your TCU. If you're lucky, it's just the fuse.

Well....you did have a foot bath happening...on the passenger side. :D
If the water made it all the way up to the bottom of the dash, it's a possibility.
Could be TCU fuse, TCU connector, TCU, etc....

Could also be the NSS is dirty and full of water.

couldent figure it out. i did it all, even replaced the TCU. Brought it to amco (yea i know.. i should be ashamed of myself) and they tell me all the fluid is burned inside and im lookin at a new tranny. dang. They quote me 1700 bucks... yea right.. screw that...
Called the local junker and he has one out of 96 with 99k miles for 250 bucks. Ill swap it myself.
Too bad it came to a new tranny.. i kinda knew it was comming. i got almost 200k on it.
edit:... just curious.. what if i wanted to swap an AX-15...? I forget what was involoved but i remember the consensous was that it wasnt worth it. Well i have a bit of money right now. Let me know maybe ill try it. :D http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=74823&highlight=tranny+swap and http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15485&highlight=aw-4+ax-15+swap was all i could find

OK i was able to find a good deal of information on this thread http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=64870&page=1&pp=15&highlight=aw4+ax15+swap
took a while but i got it :)
Basically from what i understand i need to grab:
-obviously the ax15
-clutch and brake pedal assembly + bracket
-eliminate NSS switch
-clutch master & slave cylinder
-shifter stick
-shifter boot
-console bezel
What else if anything do i need to grab? Is this a straitforward swap?
kejtar you said you did the swap. Can you offer any imput? I would like to do this within the next 2 days provided i can find all the parts and arange for their pickup ASAP.
Anything is appreciated.
