Hey guys I'm going to have the XJ lifted and I called the guys at 4 wheel parts in OKC to lift it to fit 33s. THey want $6200 to put a RE 5.5 w'shocks install 4.10 gears and put in a trac loc and SYE with 5 BFG tires. all while keeping my baby for a week. This seems a little high, price wise. My shop owner buddy in NY doesn't like 4wheel parts. Feelings here?http://jeepin.net/forum/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif http://jeepin.net/forum/images/smilies/thumbsdown.gif
Who else to go with in the Southwest OK area?
What should I pay?
how about San Antonio area? (i'll be there for 10 days at the end of Feb)

Find someone in your area with a shop to help ya do it.
Okie Terry might be more than willing to help. :D He has the same opinions on 4WP anyways. :D
Buy the lift, the gears(go 4.56) and an AA SYE and install everything yourself. Get a driveline from Tom Woods and go to a tire shop for your tires (shop around for price on those).

You can do it yourself cheaper for sure. Probably get it done cheaper too.

i would advise you to do it yourself that away when stuff breaks you willl know how to fix it(suspension) . i hear gears and lockers are a bitch to put in so i would have someone do it that does it for a living i think on a price for installing gears around here is about 600 installed with gears of your choice.

Anytime you go to a shop it's gonna cost you bigtime. Ditto on having a professional do the install on the 4.10 gears and the locker. Maybe the SYE too if you feel unconfortable about cracking open the transfercase.
The lift is something you should be able to tackle though and you will benefit from the knowledge when wheelin' it. Rubicon Express has fairly good directions now (used to not have any). Look them over and see if you can save yourself some money here. http://www.rubiconexpress.com/instructions/rubiconexpress/RE6200E.pdf

Sounds fairly reasonable price to me considering $80 an hour labor rate in addition to the parts.

I usually lift it with a floor jack and some axle stands. YMMV.

Thats a lot! Bring it to me and I'll do all the work for $1200, including gears and SYE.
Around here, it usually costs about $250 per axle for gears. Everything else you can really do youself. If you don't have the tools, go to sears and buy a big box, and you're still coming out WAY ahead...

sounds good guys. I'm wanting to do the lift myself, just don't know how long it would take me and the wife to do the install ourselves. Then there is the problem of getting the Jeep to OKC (2hour15minute drive) with the hyper extended drive shaft. Any ideas?
