stalls / wont start

my 99 with 90k has been very relaible since I bouht it 30k ago
recently it sometimes has trouble starting (unless I put my foot on the throttle.)
if I put my foot otn the trottle it runs fine if I step off it dies.

this happens if it is warm or cold.

it drives fine onec I get going

the worst part is that thsi problem is intermittant.

and only lasts for like 5 minutes then all is fine for a week.

I have a problem like that also. Mine is a 98 with 156k miles. It will never start on the first try, but will start right up on the second.


Anyone with an idea?

My bet is throttle position sensor- cheap and easy to replace. You can check the output for smooth progression as you rotate the throttle, using a voltmeter if you want to check it.
