Rear drums squealing during low speed turns on re-built axle

Ok, this is pretty weird....

We just completed swapping in a Dana 44 from an 88 MJ into my '01 XJ. The old spring perches were removed and new ones for the XJ along with shock mounts were welded on. We also re-built the axle with new everything including a Tractech Electrac locker. The breaks were rebuilt as well... new cylinders, shoes, drums, etc. The MJ axle came from the Metric Ton version and has the 10' drums.

The problem is the rear drums squeal "like a stuck pig" when making sharp turns (left or right) at low speed (approx. 5 mph). There is no noise at higher speeds even when the turn has the same radius.

We removed the drums and couldn't find any evidence of rubbing between the backer plates and the drums. No gouging on the drums or bright metal on the backer plates.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Andy

1st thing that comes to mind is bearings....

Were those also replaced?? If yes, were they properly installed?

I cant think of anything else.. .sorry.
