Front end shimmy/wobble fix.

I put on a used free set of 235-75/15's the other day at work. I drove it home, about 8 miles away, never getting above 40 mph due to traffic. A buddy called up and wanted to go to this open field to go muddin, so I went. Ended up in a hidden rut that was under a "little" puddle. Had to be pulled out. And continued to have fun.

As I was on my way to work the next morning, above 45 mph the front end shook, and got worse as I picked up speed. Thought maybe the track bar, since I did slam into the hidden rut kinda hard, 15 or so mph. Got the XJ into my bay and up on the hoist. Checked everything, Track bar, steering stabilizer, tre's, ball joints, CA bushings, unit berrings, ect. Set tire pressures all the same. All was good. After realizing it wasnt suspension related, it must be the used tires, But it couldnt be, I just mounted and balanced them myself the day before, so I went on my merry old way.

Just about an hour ago, got to thinking again, cause it was really starting to piss me off, so I figured I go pressure wash out all the mud from underneath at the DIY car wash and take a look at it at work in the AM. I cleaned the wheels especially, since they were still caked with mud. On the way back, got up to 50, then 55, and hitting 65 mph with no wobble.

Goes to show, that just some harmless mud can throw off the balance of the tires so much, it can make the front end shake that violently. Just some food for thought, sorry its long, but makes a good story, I think.
