I just got a phone call. My cousin Curtis, with the 1st Cav. has been shot in the chest and they are taking him into surgery. He was able to talk to his wife before they took him in. Please say a prayer for him and for the surgeons.
This will be his third purple heart since going to Iraq.

You're right. He's stationed out of Ft Campbell, KY. and 1st is out of Kileen?(sp).
Update:
An hour after the first call - > he is going into surgery to have his spleen removed & "fix" other damage.

Many apologies to you. I was always thinking 1st. Cav. and never really paid attention to it before. I just checked at he is with the 101st.
I've never been in the military, but I salute and thank everyone who is/was - including you!

Update:
He was in surgery for nearly 6 hours, they were able to save his spleen & patched up the rest of his insides. his vital signs are strong. He will be in the trauma center in Baghdad for a couple days, then to Germany for a while, then back to the states. I'm not sure where yet.
p.s. For Ladywolf: He's in the 502nd Regiment of the 101st
