starter solenoid power wire

I just put my stroker 4.6 in and I can't seem to get power to the small wire that goes to the starter solenoid. I jumped the posts with a screwdriver and got the engine to run and it runs quite well but who can give me an idea of what to check to figure out why I don't have power to the starter wire. The relay is kicking in I can here it but there is no power. Thanks, Joe
