Anyone ever hooked up something like that?

Your 94 should have came equipped with center brake light mounter inside the rear hatch.

yeah it has that, i mean a light on the tailgate inside to help you see what's in the back cargo area..my dome light just dosen't cut it.

Why not get a stock rear dome light from a xj in the bone yard just make sure you get the bracket and all the wiring.

My 93 had the plug up there already for the light. But I don't know what to do about a switch for the gate its self.

dude just get a small project box from radioshack and mout a switch on your d pillar.
