When I turn lest in my 95, I get an electronic whine/tone. Only happens turning left. Anyone have this happen? What is this?

Is it when you are turning left or when you have the wheel locked all the way left? Also, check the level of your power steering fluid for good measure.

If it only happens when you turn "lest" I wouldn't worry about it ;)

When you turn "left" and it makes this sound, can you hear where it is coming from?
Does it do it if the Jeep is stopped and you turn the wheels to the left?

seems to be coming from the passenger side inside the vehicle. It only happens when the Jeep is warm, and I'm moving to turn. Doesn't happen when I am stopped. Seems to be caused by the body roll in a left turn. I was thinking loose wire contacting something, but can't find anything.

These mystery noises can be frustrating. Time to start eliminating things. First, are you sure it's electronic? And are you sure it's coming from where you think it is? If possible, get a passenger in there, tell the passenger what to listen for, but not the location. It's often very hard to locate a sound accurately. If the passenger says it's coming from behind your seat, you'll need to do more hunting, because it could be anywhere, including outside the cabin. Listen for changes when windows are open or closed, different gears, coast/no coast, heat controls on/off, etc. Try driving briefly with each door incompletely closed (on the secondary latch) and see if anything changes. Try rocking the car in place. Jiggle things. Hit them. Look for any and all variables.

Make sure that it is nothing radio related. Radio off/on. Possibly even disconnected. My CD player beeps when I turn the ignition off. It would probably also beep if there were a wiring fault that disconnected its main line briefly.

Next, turn off the fan, and/or turn it to a higher speed. This could be one of those nasty little mystery noises like a ball point pen that fell down a ventilator and contacts the blades only on left turns.

Look under the seats and everywhere else for something that could be reacting to body flex or inertial change. For example, my wife once had a terrible squeaking sound in her car that one would have sworn was an incipient mechanical failure. It sounded like a rotating shaft about to fly apart. What was it actually? A frozen bottle of seltzer jammed under a seat. You couldn't duplicate that effect if you tried.

And (don't laugh) if you have kids, don't forget to look for some silly toy that beeps or whines.

in the process of eliminating some of these one by one. been all over the interior. haven't tried the fan thing while moving. that'll be next. pretty sure itsinside the vehicle though. I even took the knee panel off the dash to see if there was a buzzer/chime thing over there. It doesn't sound like a chime I've ever heard in a cherokee.

perhaps the fuel pump? I had one once that would make noise when you braked hard in a Ford.

My jeep makes a "click" that sounds exactly like clicking on a link in internet explorer on right turns. :D

Did you ever find a cause for this? I have the exact same issure right now. Sounds like it's coming from under the dash on the passanger side only on left hand turns.
