Got a 98 Kee 4.0 auto 231 t-case ok so here's the scoop in 2wd under normal conditions it's fine but under a load it makes a grinding sound, like grinding gears when you shift, sounds like it's coming from the t-case or front diff. it's up front some where. In 4wd I can't make it make the noise. Any ideas?

Drain your fluids and use an old T shirt as a filter, start looking for metal filings.

i have the same problems. i thought it might be the u joints or the wheel hubs so i replaced them with no avail. i also changed my fluid. no metal shavings, but now i think im just going to look for a new t-case. i also would like sum info on this to.
