I have a 88 XJ with the 4.0, MPI engine. Is the Idle Air Controller located on the throttle body adjustable. The reason I ask is I replaced mine and had trouble with the engine stalling, then I removed it and notived the valve disc could be unscrewed to extend further into the throttle body.

If I'm not mistaken, the IAC on the 4.0 is located on the top of the intake manifold; which side depends on the year. Are you sure you aren't referring to the TPS?

Not trying to be pedantic, just want to make sure we're talking about the right thing here.

no, it is not adjustable. The stepper motor turns that screw to adjust it automatically.
(I suppose if its dead you could manually adjust that way..)

If you do mess with it make sure you don't extend it so far that it
hits the seat when you re-install.
