Is this bumper worth it?

I am trying to get my Jeep ready for some kind of long (1-2 month) trip this summer. I have a pretty good list of mods so far I think. I'm not really looking to rock crawl. I just want to see some cool stuff and fish anywhere there's water. I still need to get rock rails (if I can ever get with AJ), auxillary lights (2 up front and I think 2 in back). I'm looking to build something in the back so after I take out the back seats I'll be able to sleep back there if need be. To make more room in my roof rack, I'd like to get the spare onto a bumper. I was going to buy a welder and try fabbing my own but the house I'm renting now doesn't have the workspace. I found this one while goofin' on ebay. I don't know enough about the mounting points to tell if this is gonna do it. I emailed the guy and asked for pics of the mounts. He sent me one pic and it just shows that back view of the Jeep. Can you guys tell?

Thanks,
Chris

From the ebay pictures, it only bolts to the stock mounts, which is NOT sufficient or safe for the hitch and recovery shackles. I wouldn't pull you out with it.

looks very cheap, and the mounting sucks, other then that.......

i wouldn't go for it but hey with a welder and some steel you could make it work.those D- shackles don't really look out to the task .as much as bolting them down is not bad those look like they are more for the chains of a trailer and not for recovery.and like it was said it should have the lower supports to even have that hitch on there.

Awesome...that's what I needed to hear. I figured it was too good to be true. I'll have to check on Rock LIzard later...there's no info. posted on it yet. I really like the poison spider one but $1200 is a tough pill to swallow.

Try C4x4. They have a bumper that a lot of guys like, and it's about the cheapest one you can get that is still a good bumper.

if you search recent posts on JCR bumpers someone asks how this bumper commpared to the JCR unit. One friendly NAXJA member lived close to the seller of the ebay bumper you posted, he basically said it was junk. If you search you can find his complaints about it in greater detail. The thread is maybe 2 months old or less.

to paraphrase the guy who went to check them out they were crappy welds. the tire carrier was loose or jiggly i think and the price for what you get was not that great. You can get a super nice ridgid tire carrier rear bumper for $500, or a MUCH MUCH higher quality JCR bumper for the same price as that ebay bumper.

Check out this one from Kennesaw mountain products. http://www.kenmtnac.com/sitebuilder/images/104_0479-435x323.jpg
Its about $550 plus all the goodies you want to add like gerry can holder, hi-lift jack carrier, license plate mounting plate. etc. I met a guy who had one and it was very nicely made for the money. Hope this helps.

Do some research, these guys are hacks.

gcurtis is the sixth post in this thread. Shoot him a PM about his Kennesaw rear bumper experience.

Hold on, did someone fart the word "Kennesaw"???? Run like hell. I have his crap and I'd be better served using it for scrap. Not to mention the fact that the guy is a complete and utter idiot and liar.

Here is my story, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy my pain:

Hey Marty, how is the armor coming? I'm still ready when you are...
