Mechanical speedo to digital, can it be done?

How hard would it be to replace the cable driven speedometer with a digitaly driven one? I know the speedometer guage would need to be replaced.

On a seperate note can more than one guage run off of the same sender without messing up the accuracy?

at every turn the digital will be much more expensive to reapir.
