Truss or no truss?

That is the question!! I recently obtained a Chrysler 8.25 rear end(props go to nosigma!). I'm gonna put it in a cherokee when I get one(which will be in a month or two, high school budget). I plan to make a desert fun vehicle as well as a daily driver out of it. I know the dana 35s are crap so I opted for the 8.25. My question is will I need to truss it?I plan on doing moderate speeds off road and maybe a couple small jumps here and there and I don't wanna have my axle end up like my dads flat fender.(he jumped it and bent the rear dana 44 into a pretzel.)

i would have to say truss it if your gonna desert run it. There is a pretty good article in one of this months mags, I think 4wd&su. On jeep speed cherokees and how they reinforce them.

should i do the full on box truss like this

or the little bar truss

why would anyone do that to an axle....was he trying to keep a 44 together w/ like 49" tires?

second truss should be fine, and yeah if you can truss it, won't hurt.
