....an easy run? How about Beasley Knob in Blairsville, GA? I'd like to check it out, as I've not been able to make it back there since our last small gathering there late last year (at least I think it was last year). Anyway, I'll try and shoot for the end of this month some time,or early August, so if anyone's interested, just post it here and we'll get a time/date set up for sure!-Later!:D

Hey Mike, August might be better for me I am defininetly
intrested though.that will give me some time to do some rapair work on the XJ.
I tore into the front end yesterday and removed the broken
axle and vacuumed the glass out of the rear. I'm going to try to clean the gear up today and maybe reinstall everything tomorrow.

WOW! Snapped 'er clean off, huh? I'll be heading out to the 'yard some time this week or next, you want me to grab some spares for ya? I was thinking maybe August 2nd or 9th. How's that?
I started the repair work on my winch today. I used some steel putty to fill in the rear motor hole and fix the broken area on the front hole. I'm gonna give it a couple or three days to completely cure and then redrill and tap the holes. Then I should be back in business. I gotta build some sort of guard for that power lug so this doesn't happen again:anon:

Hey Mike, either day is fine just let me know.
You might wait and see if anyone else wants to go
and what day is better for them.
Also see if you can find me a gas tank skid in the bone yards
down there and I'll take a spare shaft or two if their easy to
aquire.
Thanks.

front lifted in two hours i'll be there. would it be better if met you in Oakwood or Blairsville? coming from Charlotte.
Georgia Mike

Probably in Oakwood would be better for you. Too many turns and exits to go straight to Blairsville.
BIG98XJ
July 31st, 2003, 14:15
What would be the best route from alpharetta, exit 10 on Ga400??
Georgia Mike
July 31st, 2003, 16:04
Big,your best bet is a straight shot to Blairsville, unless you just wanna drive out of the way to Oakwood :) If I were you,I'd take 400 north all the way (even after it turns into 19) until it intersects with 129 just past Dahlonega. Just remember when you get to Blairsville on 129 and you get to the one-way "loop" intersection,go all the way around it as if you were trying to make a left turn from 129. Next stop sign take a right and BK is on the right. See ya there!

Is NAXJA affiliated with SFWDA?
If so, the third quarter meeting is being held at beasley

Georgia Mike

To my understanding, yes we are. We are a member of the UFWDA. I think the SFWDA is a sub-section of United, but I *could* be mistaken. Doesn't matter if we are or not, though. SFWDA can use all the help they can get,as well as United, too. We all need to stick together and protect the sport we love!
woody
August 1st, 2003, 13:48
NAXJA is an 'Association Member' of UFWDA (United Four Wheel Drive Assns) as is SFWDA (Southern Four Wheel Drive Assn)
NAXJA members contribute $10 per member, per year as part of their dues to support the cause. After last year's Tellico event, we split the profits we made with Southern. IIRC it was a $313 or $335 donation from us.
I'd encourage all folks in the SE area (whether a NAXJA member or not) to join Southern and/or United.

I just read this hey where beasley knob at? How far and how much will it cost ? I'm game for the 9th Marcas
Georgia Mike
August 1st, 2003, 20:03
Beasley Knob is in the Brasstown Forestry Service's district in Blairsville,GA. Cost is $5 per vehicle per day. It's a good little trail with a couple of gnarly sections and one place that you'll get some pretty good trail rash on if you're not careful. For the most part it's mild to moderate.
jeeping31
August 1st, 2003, 20:46
I'm ready to go! But I look on yahoo maps and thier saying it will take 4 hours 30 mins. For me that's almost to tellico for me. Help me out am I right ?

Georgia Mike
August 10th, 2003, 13:56
Just remember the NAXJA SE's motto : "It's only sheetmetal!" :D That trail wasn't opened the last time we were up there,so,if anyone in the area wants to do a good, moderately difficult trail run one weekend,we'll go UP it instead! I'm up for it!! I'm ready to go back and do it again!! I'm just glad to see Beasley's returning to it's older glory. Mark, glad to see you made it home OK and I had a good time! See you in Tellico where the REAL trails are
