im sure theres plenty of you waiting to jump on it and scream Vacuum leak! or stop flooring it....

but my center dash vent - the main one - is really loose. the physical finned vent piece is loose with the up and down motion so much that when i go over a speed bump or anything the vent just ends up faceing down.

i cant figure out how to remove it and find a way to make it not so loose without breaking. i didnt know if anyone knew how to do that without busting it up.

You need a friction modifier.

Sticky felt buttons -- may, or may not be your cure.

You reach in there with a very slim screwdriver or putty knife and pry the vent piece out. Like the man said, there are normally small felt pieces stuck in there to dampen the movement. You can get them at the hardware store. They use them to put on the bottom of stuff so it doesn't scratch your furniture.

For you single guys, furniture is the stuff that replaces the cardboard crap you had before you got married and that the wife threw out.

I just stuck a piece of cardboard under mine. This is a much better fix. JIM.
