hard steering at idle

I noticed a slight leak at the pitman, but the power steering fluid level looks good.
As soon as I give it a bit of gas it steers fine.
Is the pump the likely culprit, or maybe pump and box?

More and likley the pump. Is the belt seem tight? Fer the leak near the pitman arm, its probably a seal.

could be the leak

check the serpentine belt tension though, low tension could cause hard turning at idle

Hey,
Sorry I have been gone. Thanks for the suggestions, I will check the belt tension. As for the leak, I am hoping not to have to deal with the seal. It seems I have heard it's best to just get a rebuilt box rather than try to repair.

Or get a Junkyard one, thats not leaking.
