Try not to over oil your K&N if you get one. It tends to mess with some sensors, it can gum them up, at least on some of the newer GM trucks and cars it does.
K&N is great for everyday driving and if you spend most of your time out of the dirt. I ran a K&N for a while but then looked in the air tube after a wheeling trip that was really dusty.....tube was lined with silt. And yes I oiled and maintained it properly.
