Just wanted to post this up
I had a leak in my steering gear box (out of the pitman arms seal) and after reading this thread
http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=20532&highlight=steering+box+rebuild
I decided to try and rebuild the box instead of shelling out $150+ for a rebuilt box..
Napa sells a pitman arms seal kit for $12 part # 7-205 for a 96? and under Saginaw box..
just pull the pitman arm
remove the c clip and a couple of washers along with the seals (2)
put in back together and bolt it back up..
if the leak was caused by the pitman shaft seals goin bad then yoiur back in business without spending $150
ps not a bad idea to pick up 2 kits one for a rebuild and one for the toolbox..
I sure wish I would have had one last weekend ;(
I could have wheeled instead of sittin in camp waiting for my buddies to get back..
