The driver was a 41-year-old Malaysian guy. They found pieces of him yards away from the car.

That must be a common problem with italian cars. When I was hauling cars we picked up a Ferrari that looked almost like that. The dude borrowed it from a friend and wrapped it (and himself) around a telephone poll at a high rate of speed.

It was in two peices just like that.

I've noticed that alot on Wrecked Exotics, mainly Ferrari's though too :dunno:

There was a fatal wreck that was by a Ferrari, that one was torn apart too.

Sad for the guy and any others hurt, but not for the car.
That thing is the fugliest car they ever built.
I wish they'd redo the 250 GTO, now that's a Ferrari...

I was at the Monterey Historics in 2004 (for the year of the Ferrari) where that pic was taken. It's one of two factory prepared F50-GTs, and after just a few laps, the new owner put it into a wall and did several hundred thousand dollars damage. I've got some pics at home of the shattered hulk under a tarp. It was very sad.

P.S.

Watching the largest grouping of 250 GTOs ever assembled in one place (19)storming around Laguna Seca was something I will never forget. At $5,000,000-$10,000,000 EACH, that's a lot of money cricling the track. Totally agree with Beej about the GTO...but they look much better in person. And the sound! WOW!
