8.8 Question

Im thinking of swapping a 8.8 into my MJ, and have a few questions.

I SEARCHED!!!

Are all 94+ exploder rears 31 spline and disks? That way I am SURE I get the right rear.

Will I be able to cut and save the leaf perches to move for my leafs?

Where do the shocks mount on a stock 8.8?

any information needed about 8.8's is here there are 25 pages of info on a 8.8 this is dealing iwth an xj yj or tj but an of the guys from this post will surly know someone to help you with your mj

What years axles can I use? Im not to worried about disks or drums. Doesnt really matter to me, but disks would be nice.

Ive read 96+ is that in ALL exploders? Or just V8 versions? All of them 31 spline?

You pretty much answered your own questions...

IIRC...

96+ Explorers for disc brakes...

all explorers with a solid rear axle use the 8.8

all explorer 8.8's are 31 spline

you can save the perches and move them, but the Ford OEM perches are "adequate" at best... Torch them off and buy new beefier ones.

the shock mounts will also have to be moved up anyway... buy new or modify your XJ mounts...

also... If Exploders are in short supply, look for Mercury Mountaineers
